Congratulations to our Anchors who entered the Battalion Swimming Gala, all of whom came away with a medal and the group came third place in the Overall Anchors Competition. Also congratulations to Alex from Juniors who came first in the Year 4 Backstroke race.

Due to the adverse weather covering the country and the Weather Warnings in place from the MET Office we have taken the decision to cancel BB on Friday 2 March 2018. We are sorry about this and hope to see you all on Friday 9 March.

Tonight Leigh and two of our Seniors attending Wednesbury Rotary Club as the Club showed its appreciation to groups from across Wednesbury who helped with the Christmas Float this year. We joined with representatives from TS Legion Navy Cadet Force, Walsall Saddlers and Wednesbury Rugby Club to celebrate raising £8730.59. A photo will follow once we get it.

Tonight was our Enrolment Service where we also laid up the old Colours of the 6th West Bromwich and 11th West Bromwich Companies and dedicated the new Colours of the 2nd Wednesbury Company. An enjoyable time was had by all and a few pictures can be found by clicking here.

Letters and emails have now gone out to all members with the Pre Session Newsletter and Consent Form for 2016/17, please take the chance to read through it and complete the necessary parts. Emails have also gone out asking people to sign up to Gift Aid and online payment of subs, again it would be great if people can deal with this before we start back. Any problems just let me know. It’s our Awards Night next Friday (22nd July), 7.30pm at Central Methodist Church, why not come along and support our young people and celebrate their achievements over the last session.

This coming weekend people across the country will be coming together to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen, as part of these celebrations a day of fun and entertainment will be taking place in Brunswick Park, Wednesbury. We, along with our friends from TS Legion, have been asked to provide a Guard of Honour for The Worshipful Mayor of Sandwell as she raises the Union Flag to kick of the celebrations. Come and see us as we start events at 12noon.

We would like to once again express our thanks to Wednesbury Rotary for their generous donation to our funds following our help and assistance with the annual Christmas Float. We very much appreciate all the support that is offered to us from Wednesbury Rotary and we commit to helping wherever we can. Next up is the Carnival.

On 18th March 2nd Wednesbury Boys’ Brigade will be taking part in Sports Relief by doing a Sponsored Walk, the Achors and Juniors will be walking 2.2 miles and the Company and Seniors walking 4.4miles, Sponsor Forms have gone out with the Young People, if you’d like to make a donation then drop it in on one of our meeting nights or drop into The Wesley Centre and ask for it to be passed to Leigh saying it is for Sports Relief.

On Thursday 22nd October representatives of 2nd Wednesbury Boys’ Brigade, TS Legion Navy Cadet Force and Wednesbury Young Firefighters were invited to be guests of Wednesbury Rotary Club as a thank you for the help and assistance the groups provided in the run up and during Wednesbury Carnival. During the night each group was presented with a cheque. Thanks to all those who came to the Awards Afternoon today, it was so lovely to see all the support you offer to your children and their involvement in The Boys’ Brigade. We managed to forget to mention in the Anchors and Juniors Welcome Packs the Annual Registration Fee - this year it remains at £10.00 per member and is payable by the end of September. This registration fee contributes towards the annual insurance for members. If there is an issue with this please do speak to us.

Anchors and Juniors - hopefully you should all have received your Welcome Packs over the last few days, have a read and get your parents/carers to fill out the forms that were included. Please make sure the forms are returned on the first night back (11th September).

Our annual camp is going to be a little late this year, but we’ve now booked and are going to Peckwood in November, more information can be found here. Camp is open to all those in Juniors and above.

We’ve rebranded and had a name change so that it fits better with our location, we are now called 2nd Wednesbury Boys’ Brigade and we will be moving over to this name over the coming months.

A reminder that due to the Christmas Fayre at Central on 29th November - all Sections will meet at Woods Methodist Church on 28th November - timings remain as normal.

Thanks to all members of the Company who participated in various ways over the Remembrance period. The band had three performances in total, Company and Seniors sold poppies on two Saturdays and the whole Company was on Parade on Sunday morning. Thank you for all your effort and time, showing your respects to those lost in war and advertising to the people of Wednesbury.

An excellent evening was had last night with the 2013/14 Awards Evening with great support from Parents and Friends. Picture’s will follow shortly. Tonight at our BBQ and Water Party we said good-bye to our Chaplain and Minister Revd Andrew Farrington as he moves to pastures new - he was presented with a little gift from 6th & 11th West Bromwich BB.

On 3rd August we shall be joining with others across Wednesbury to commemorate the events of World War 1, we shall be meeting at the Royal British Legion at around 1020 and marching off at around 1045 followed by a service at the War Memorial on Walsall Street, please share this event with others.

Our planned trip to Cosford on 9th August has unfortunately had to be cancelled, as an alternative we are now looking at taking members to Ironbridge in October Half Term, more details to follow.
